Welcome from the Governors

Dear Parents and Carers,

As the Chair of Governors for the school I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the schools’ website.

School Governors act in a voluntary capacity and are drawn from many different parts of the local community. Our Governing Body comprises four Parents, two staff members, three co-opted members and two Local Education Authority appointed members.

This diversity of views, skills and experience helps to ensure that the Governing Body is representative of the wider community of the school. This does not, however, mean that the Governors of a particular category “represent” the views of a particular group on the Governing Body.

The Governing Body operates under a legal framework which affords a range of powers, duties and responsibilities to Governors for the general conduct of the school, for supporting the Headteacher and the staff with a view to promoting and achieving high standards of academic achievement, ensuring the provision of a broad and balanced curriculum, managing the school finances, ensuring that the school is safe and secure, appointing the staff and much more.

We want our school to aspire to be the best and for all of our pupils to reach their full potential. I hope that the Governors of Spring Meadow can rely on your support in achieving our objectives.
