Dear Reception Parents and Carers Welcome to our Summer newsletter. We hope it will be useful in outlining our topics and giving you all the information you need to know for the rest of the term. Summer Topics This half term we will be talking about all aspects of growing. We will be planting seeds and watching them grow and talking about the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. The children will be invited to bring their special teddies to school to talk about and draw. Our role play areas will be based on the favourite story of ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’, and we will learn lots of teddy songs and rhymes. In the last thre weeks of this term we will be thinking about the seaside. We will find out about sea creatures, talk about our favourite seaside activities and take part in some seaside inspired dance and role play. There will be lots of stories and rhymes to listen to and we will use information books to ask and answer questions. Arts Week will be on the week beginning the 12th June. Teddy Bear’s Picnic 
We will be having a Teddy Bear’s Picnic on Friday 22nd June, to raise funds for action research. This is a charity that helps children. We hope you will sponsor your child. Sports Day will be on Tuesday 26th June. Visit Day Children will be visiting their new classes for the day on Wednesday 11th July. Please bring them to their Reception classroom at 9am, but collect them from their new classroom. You will receive a letter nearer the time informing you of the class, teacher and teaching assistant. General Reminders PE sessions: Rockets: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays Planets: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays Stars: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays All children will need an out door PE kit – jogging top and bottoms, plimsolls or trainers, shorts and t-shirts for indoors. For health and safety reasons please remove all jewellery on PE days. Please ensure that all clothing is clearly named. Thank you for reading! If you have any questions please come and see us.
